I am passionate about helping teachers work with English Language Learners in their classrooms. I love to meet with teachers to work on scaffolding instruction and modifying assignments to fit their learners. My favorite part of any teaching day was always co-teaching - with writing lessons being a particular favorite. I have always found that this relationship between the classroom teacher and ESL teacher crucial to a student's success.
In the ESL classroom explicit vocabulary instruction drove much of my teaching. I would chose read-alouds and writing assignments to support our vocabulary focus. We would practice listening and speaking as well. This thematic teaching allowed my students to develop a deep understanding of the topic. Finding activities to go along with our topic was at times a struggle, which is why I started creating my own resources.
I have been creating resources since the summer of 2014. My idea list is LONG! I have plans for many more vocabulary units, a phonics resource, grammar activities, and so much more. Everything I post in my Teachers Pay Teachers store is either something I used in my classroom and worked, or adapted from something I have used in my classroom.
A little about me personally - I am 34 years old, and live in the town where I grew up. This year my husband and I will celebrate 8 years of matrimony. We have 2 children, I often feature on my Instagram as Small Fry and Peanut. Small Fry is a 5 year old boy, and Peanut is a sassy little girl, who just turned 1. We also have two dogs, Salvatore and Willow who are getting on in years and would rather sleep than just about anything else. I am a crafty person and love decorative planning. I could eat tacos and ice cream every day and never get tired of it.
